BBAO is a not-for-profit charity organization
The objective of the corporation is to carry out functions, activities and teachings of Theravada Buddhism. To this end, BBAO aims to:
- Operate exclusively for religious and charitable purposes.
- Collect and disseminate information on Buddhism.
- Study and promote Buddhism in respect to its philosophy, culture, tradition and heritage.
- Promote co-operation among Buddhist communities in Canada and elsewhere.
Religious Activities and Events
With the objective to propagate and uphold the beliefs and practices of Theravada Buddhism within the Myanmar community in Ontario, following religious activities and events are regularly conducted at the Mahadhammika Temple.
- Weekly Dhamma Talks on Saturday evenings
- Ceremonies on auspicious Buddhist religious days
- Yearly meditation retreats in May and September
- Ordination of novice monks
- Performing Buddhist funeral rites as required
- Providing spiritual guidance and counselling
- Sunday school for children of Myanmar community
- Giving religious sermons and merit sharing ceremonies as and when required
