On March 28th 2025, a devastating earthquake struck Myanmar, affecting thousands of families, damaging infrastructure, and leaving communities in urgent need of support. Thousands of people were killed and thousands more injured.
The Burma Buddhist Association of Ontario (BBAO), stands in solidarity with those affected and is committed to providing aid and relief to the earthquake victims.
Our Relief Efforts
With the support of our community and generous donors, BBAO has taken the following actions to assist those affected:
- Fundraising GoFundMe fundraising campaign for emergency relief. [GoFundMe Fundraiser]
- Organizing prayer ceremonies: 13th April 2025 (Sunday)
- Spread Awareness: We share our efforts and encourage others to contribute through social media and news channels.
- Read the interviews with U Koko Kyi, former president and current board member of the Burmese Buddhist Association of Ontario, discussing the organization’s expanded fundraising efforts in response to the earthquake.

How You Can Help
We invite our community members to get involved in financial contributions that go directly to relief supplies and rebuilding efforts.
Donations for the relief fund can be given in the following ways:
- Cash donation to the Sayadaws at Mahadhammika Temple.
- By e-transfer to: bbaodana@gmail.com (please write “Myanmar Earthquake Relief) in the memo or remark box of the e-transfer form.

Updates & Reports
The first batch of 46.5 million Kyats and the second batch of 31 million Kyats have already been sent to the relief team in Myanmar, arranged by the Sayadaws of Mahadhammika Temple and the Burma Buddhist Association of Ontario.
